White Bear Lake hosted the Section 4AAA Individual Tournament on Saturday and the teams included WBL, Moundsview, Centennial, Tartan, Roseville, Irondale and your Stillwater Ponies. The Ponies were all seeded 1 or 2 and did not have a quarter final match. In the semis the Ponies sent 11 of 13 to the finals with 2 that had to wrestle back for 3rd and hope for a true 2nd match. In the end the Ponies had 10 Section 4AAA Champions, a 2nd place and two 3rd place winners. Chase Lawrence, Brodie Lawrence, Noah Nicholson, August Hartung, Axel Rogotzke, Isaac Leonard, George Jones, Grayson Eggum, Cohen Lumby and Andrew Olson were all champions. Cael Spates won his true 2nd match to finish runner up and both Ryan Birkenmayer and Braden Hatalla won their 3rd place matches but did not qualify for a true 2nd match. In the end the Ponies send 11 onto the State meet at Grand Casino Arena this week. Noah Nicholson notched is 150th career varsity win. Andrew Olson wrestled his first match in a month and picked up right where he left off. Isaac Leonard avenged an early season loss to his Moundsview opponent with a takedown to win in the end.

Looking across the Sections in AAA, the Ponies were only second to STMA in qualifiers, the Knights sent 12 to the Ponies 11. Shakopee also sent 11. This should make for a very interesting State Individual Tournament. Below are records and placing for all wrestlers.
