PONIES WIN 2 MORE AND PARTICIPATE IN 9TH GRADE QUALIFIER

On Thursday evening in the freezing cold the Ponies went to Woodbury to wrestle a tri with Albert Lea and the Royals. The Ponies were not at full strength with some varsity wrestlers out and no 107 lb wrestler but this did not impact the outcome with a 42-22 win over Albert Lea and a 59-15 win over Woodbury. The Ponies end the night at 19-2 and 7-0 in the Suburban East Conference. Of note, during the girls event Audrey Rogotzke earned her 100th career fall.

We could talk about the Saturday tournament at Grand Rapids, but the Ponies did not attend due to weather. Instead, the Ponies sent 5 to the 9th Grade Regional Qualifier at Totino Grace in Fridley. Below are the results. Congratulations to August Hartung and Elijah Hunter who will both participate in the 9th Grade State meet next Saturday in Champlin Park.

121 – Elijah Hunter – 2nd
127 – Brandon Stein – 4th
133 – August Hartung – Champion
160 – Sawyer Deitner – DNP
172 – Luke Marier – 7th

The regular season is quickly wrapping up with 5 duals remaining along with 9th Grade State Tournament and the Suburban East Conference JV Tournament. Then we move into the Post Season, it should be a fun one!
