PONIES ADD 3 MORE DUAL WINS

The Ponies looked to add to their dual meet win total Friday evening with a home quad against Cambridge Isanti, Roseville and #2 ranked Chatfield from Class A. In the first meet of the night the Ponies took on Cambridge putting the gas pedal down and not letting up winning the dual 56-12. Brodie Lawrence won a great match against ranked Wald at 114 and George Jones won his 125th career varsity match.

In round 2 the Ponies faced conference foe Roseville. The Ponies took the dual 70-3 and Owen Stow saw his first varsity action at heavyweight. Though he lost a decision he kept the match close and had a chance in the 3rd period to win. The Ponies remain undefeated in the Suburban East Conference with three more duals remaining with CDH, Woodbury and Mounds View.

In the finale the Ponies faced off against Chatfield currently ranked #2 in Class A and looked to avenge a loss to the Gophers from 2025 Clash National Duals. Chase Lawrence started it off facing #1 ranked Cady at 107. It was a great match to watch with both wrestlers looking for every opportunity to get takedowns. Chase avoided a fireman’s carry on 2 occasions and came out on top 6-1 for a decision win. Brody Lawrence faced his 2nd ranked wrestler of the evening winning another decision over Polikowsky to give the Ponies a 6-0 lead. Chatfield won the next two by tech and fall to take an 11-6 lead. Noah Nicholson scored a major decision to bring the score to 11-10. August Hartung took on10th ranked Root at 139 and managed a take down with seconds remaining to win the match 6-5 and gave the Ponies a 13-11 lead. Chatfield went back up 14-13 with a decision at 145. The Ponies won the next two with a fall and a tech to take 24-14 lead. The Gophers scored a tech at 172 but that would be their last opportunity as the Ponies won the last 3 matches and took the dual 42-19.

The Ponies ended the evening with a 17-1 dual meet record overall and 6-0 in the Suburban East Conference.

On the JV side Kingston Pak continued his undefeated season while Sawyer Deitner scored his first takedown of the season.

The Ponies are off this weekend but will be back in action against STMA on Friday evening on the stage at Stillwater Middle School and then at the East Ridge Ruckus on Saturday.
